Music & Nostalgia Plus Opinions on Bartees Strange & Sasami
Hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot speak with author David Rowell about his new book, The Endless Refrain: Memory, Nostalgia, and the Threat to New Music. The hosts also review the new albums by Bartees Strange and Sasami.
Bartees Strange is a compelling, shape-shifting musician back with his third album in five years, “Horror.” Despite some production work from Jack Antonoff, the hosts have generally positive feelings about the album, though they agree it is not Strange’s best work.
00:00:00 Review: Sasami
Sasami is originally a French horn player and composer who has just released her third solo album, “Blood On The Silver Screen.” The hosts are split on this album, with one calling the lyrics saccharine and the other reading more into them.

Dear Listeners,
For more than 15 years, Sound Opinions was a production of WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station. Now that the show is independent, we're inviting you to join the band and lend a hand! We need your support more than ever because now we have to do all the behind-the-scenes work that WBEZ handled before (like buying insurance and paying for podcast hosting, ugh). Plus, we have some exciting ideas we'd like to try now that there's no one to tell us no!
Please consider becoming a Sound Opinions member by giving whatever you can via Patreon or with a one-time donation through PayPal. Thanks for listening, and thanks for your support!
